NOTIFICATION
Islamabad, the 29th September, 2001
S.R.O. 679 (I)/2001.—In exercise of the
powers conferred by section 24 of the War risks Insurance Ordinance, 1971 (XXXII of 1971)
and in supersession of its Notification No. S.R.O. 584 (I)/71, dated the 5th
December, 1971, the Federal Government is pleased to direct that the following powers
exercisable by the federal Government under the said Ordinance, shall be exercisable also
by the National Insurance Company Limited, incorporated under the Companies Ordinance,
1984 (XLVII of 1984) in pursuance of the National Insurance Corporation (Re-organization)
Ordinance, 2001 (XXXVII of 2001), namely:-
(a) the power to establish a War Risks Insurance Fund and to receive from the agents
appointed under section 17 of the Ordinance all premia collected by them in respect of
policies issued under any Scheme framed under section 4 of the Ordinance and to defray all
expenses and meet all liabilities of the Federal Government under any of the provisions of
the ordinance; and
(b) the power to compound any offence under the said Ordinance.
