F. No. 1(72)/2000.--DII/NTC.-- It is notified for the information of all concerned that the National Tariff Commission is presently engaged in the examination of following case:--

* The issue for removal of disparity in tariff concessions allowed to the public sector and private sector pharmaceutical units for the local manufacturing of vaccine has been raised by M/s. Amson Farmaco Biologico. According to the applicant, the National Institute of Health (NIH) is entitled to import its raw material or equipment, components/parts thereof @ 10% customs duty under S.R.O. 555(I)/98 for the production of vaccine. Since this concession is only available to one public sector organisation i.e. NIH, the applicant has therefore requested that the same concession may also be extended to the private sector pharmaceutical units capable of producing vaccines to achieve self sufficiency in the indigenous production.

2. All interested persons/enterprises are invited to forward their views/comments/suggestions to the Commission so as to reach the undersigned within 15 days of publication of this notice.
