Bank Charges

Please refer to BCD Circular No.7 dated the 28th March, 1984 on the bank charges in terms of which banks have been made free to fix their rate(s) of charges except the rate applicable to home remittances.

The matter has been reconsidered in the State Bank of Pakistan and in exercise of the powers conferred on it under the Banking Companies Ordinance, 1962 the banks are directed to follow the following ranges for rates of charges relating to Exports with effect from 12th February, 1996.

1. Processing charges for-Export Registration	Rs.50	Rs.200
2. Letters of Credit (a) Advising (b) Amendment Advising (c) Negotiation of Rupee Bills under Export L/Cs (d) Confirmation (e) Transfer of Export L/Cs (f) Reimbursement payment to other Local banks from non Resident Rupee Account	Rs.250 Rs.200 Rs.200 Rs.250 Rs.250 Rs.250	Rs.350 Rs.250 0.25% 0.25%. per quarter or part thereof Rs.350 Rs. 350
3. If the documents are sent to other banks for negotiation under restricted L/Cs	Rs.250	Rs.350

6. Service Charges against export documents sent on collection basis where payment cover is already received in banks' Foreign Currency Account	Paisa 10 per Rs. 00 or Re. 1 per mile.	Paisa 13 per Rs. 100 or Rs. 1.30 per mile.

The banks are further advised not to recover any charges other than those mentioned above in respect of export business.

Other instructions on the subject remain unchanged. Prudential Regulation No.X stands amended accordingly.
