S.R.O. 477 (I) /91. --In exercise of the powers conferred by
section 36 of the Drugs Act, 1976 (XXXI of 1976), the Federal Government being of the
opinion that the public interest so requires, is pleased to exempt the following classes
of drugs, whether imported or locally manufactured, from the provision of section 12 of
the Act subject to the condition that the existing maximum retail price of any such drug
shall not be increased byoned 10% in a calendar your:--
(i) All cosmetic items (e.g. medicated shampoos and acno preparations, etc.)
(ii) All bandages, plasters and dressings, including absorban/surgical cotton.
(iii) All vitamins and mineral preparations (vitamines, minerals and vitamin and mineral
combinations).
(iv) All digestive enzymes.
(v) All laxatives.
(vi) All topical preparations, without antibiotics and corticestoroids (e.g. antisoptics,
counter-irritants and analgosios etc).
Explanation:-- Existing maximum retail price means the price at which a drug is authorised
by the competent authority to be sold immediately before the issuance of this
notifications.
